A step-by-step guide and helpful tips to maximise your chances

    • Take the time to prepare your space and get comfortable.  Ensure that you empty your bladder.
    • Wash your hands and dry them well.
    • Open your InSEM Kit and locate the vial of prepared sperm, the 1ml syringe and the catheter.
    • Open the packets containing the syringe and catheter.
    • Take the syringe and draw up 0.2ml of air by pulling back on the plunger until the black rubber stopper inside the syringe reaches 0.2.
    • Carefully unscrew the lid of the sperm vial and, using the syringe, draw up the contents of the vial into the syringe by pulling back on the plunger.
    • Attach the syringe to the end of the catheter.
    • Get into a position on your back with your hips slightly raised on a pillow.  Make sure you are comfortable as you will stay in this position for a while.
    • Gently part your labia and insert the catheter deeply into the vagina.
    • Slowly push down on the plunger to release the sperm.
    • Leave the catheter in place for about 15-20 seconds and then slowly withdraw.
    • Remain lying down for about 20 minutes – it is reported that having an orgasm at this time may increase success!
    • Dispose of your used equipment and packaging in the general waste bin.
